Longing for God

Psalm 63: Check it out!
Verse by verse notes on it.
1. David has received a vision for one of God's purposes in us: holiness.  Much of sexual immorality (sexual desire or intimacy in a sinful, disobedient posture) is an error in the direction of longing.  Sinful body-longing is longing for another not our spouse with our bodies rather than longing for God with our bodies.  As Paul said: the body was made for the LORD and the LORD was made for the body (1 Cor 6:13).

2. I can't always say I've seen God but I can trust that David has.

3. God's love being better than life does not mean we don't embrace, receive and give love freely in this life.  It means that our source for love is not from this life but from Him, from His love.

4. My hands are lifted up having received, palms up and heart open for more.

5. I was recently made sick for a couple of days from eating an incredibly delicious meal on the last day of a family vacation to Mexico.  His delights come without cost or risk of disease.

8. I get the image of rock climbing, bouldering, which I've been doing a bit of lately.  We are holding on to a grip with one hand and our feet are dangling, but God lifts us up to a better position.
